Mentoring Girls Through High School Graduation

In SisterMentors’ unique mentoring model, girls of color primarily from low income families are mentored by women of color doctoral students, many of whom are first generation college graduates. We start with girls in elementary and middle school and follow them through high school and college graduation. SisterMentors is helping to combat the high dropout rate among young people of color. SisterMentors’ vision is to open the eyes of girls of color to college educated women who look like them so the girls can see that they are heirs to a legacy of women of color who have persevered and achieved academic success despite the odds.

Current activities include:

  • Mentoring
  • Tutoring
  • Annual College Visits
